How to set up scale barcodes
The scale prints a label with the product code and weight. GTSoft reads it with one scan and adds the item to the cart by weight.
What you need
- Cabinet access as owner or co-owner.
- The scale label format: 13 digits — the prefix and product code (7 digits together), then the weight in grams (5 digits) and a check digit.
Steps
Open the scale settings
"Cabinet" → "···" on the branch card → "⚖ Scale".
Set the "Main prefix"
The digits the scale label starts with (e.g. 22). An empty field turns the feature off.
If needed — the "Piece prefix"
For labels that carry a piece count instead of weight. If empty, the main prefix + 1 is used (e.g. 23).
"Strip from code" and "Weight tolerance"
Strip removes N characters from the start of the code. Tolerance (10 grams by default) allows a small difference against stock. Click "Save".
Prepare the product
The product's barcode must equal the code part of the label — the 7 digits (e.g. 2200041). When receiving, tick "Weighed product ⚖".
Scan the label
E.g. 2200041002485 → product 2200041, weight 0.248 kg. A second label for the same product adds weight to the same line.
Good to know
- The till looks products up by barcode, not by PLU. The PLU (scale code) is for programming the scale and for Excel export.
- A regular product whose barcode starts with the prefix is still found correctly — the full barcode is checked first.
- The till rejects a label with zero weight — weigh it again.
- You can enter several piece prefixes separated by commas, e.g. 21,25.
